INTRODUCE

Part I Subject Introduction

   The School of Psychology of Capital Normal University was founded in 1954, with an excellent academic tradition and culture. Two well-known Chinese psychologists, Dr. Chuanding LIN and Dr. Deyuan HAO, both carried out teaching and research work here. In 1984, “Developmental and Educational Psychology” was authorized to award a master’s degree and a doctorate degree, which was one of the first approved doctoral programs in China. Our School began to recruit undergraduate student in psychology in 1997. In 2001, the "Learning and Cognition" laboratory was granted as a key laboratory of Beijing. In 2002, "Developmental and Educational Psychology" was approved as a key discipline of Beijing. In 2004 and 2010, “Psychology”, as a first-level subject, was authorized to award a master’s degree and a doctorate degree, respectively. In 2007, a post-doctoral mobile station of psychology was established.

 

Beijing Key Laboratory of "Learning and Cognition"

    The "Learning and Cognition" laboratory was granted as a key laboratory of Beijing in 2001. In 2005, the laboratory was awarded "Beijing Excellent Key Laboratory". It established the first electroencephalography (ERP) laboratory across universities in China. The laboratory consists of: EEG laboratory, vision laboratory, emotion laboratory, physiological psychology laboratory, TMS laboratory, virtual reality laboratory, psychometric laboratory, thinking laboratory, child development laboratory, psychological counseling laboratory and language laboratory, etc. The laboratory currently has equipment such as physiological multi-channel recorder, NeuroScan/EEG 64-channel EEG, SMI/Tobii eye tracker, transcranial magnetic stimulator, Morris water maze, multi-channel neuron acquisition system, virtual reality system, etc. The total value is about 30 million yuan.

 

Part II Introduction to Recruiting Majors

1. Basic Psychology

Relying on the Beijing Key Laboratory of "Learning and Cognition" and the post-doctoral mobile station of psychology, the direction of basic psychology has actively carried out research in human memory and emotional memory, creative thinking, visual cognition, language processing, drug addiction, the interaction between motivation and attention, etc.

2. Developmental and Educational Psychology

This major was authorized to award a doctorate degree in 1984, mainly including the following three research directions:

(1) Emotion and cognition: explore the influence of emotion prediction and emotion types on cognitive decision-making and its underlying neural mechanisms; examine the mechanisms and developmental characteristics of emotion regulation during adolescence; explore the characteristics and mechanisms of the generation and diffusion of group emotion; and study the relationship between emotion and related cognitive processes such as memory and attention.

(2) Early childhood development and health: multi-level exploration of the relationship between early development of infants and young children, family parenting and children’s health from the perspectives of behavior, physiology and cognitive neuroscience; follow up and study the effects of infants’ parenting experiences on their cognitive abilities and emotional-sociality and their internal mechanisms.

(3) Personality and sociality: explore the influence of parent-child relationship and strict parental discipline on the emotional-social mentally development of children and adolescents; explore the relationship between the personality development of children and adolescents and family parenting.

3. Applied Psychology

Applied psychology is committed to applying psychological theories to practical activities of promoting the development of human society and solving psychological problems. It aims to cultivate senior professionals capable of engaging in teaching, management, consulting and treatment, and technology development in education, industrial and commercial enterprises, medical, judicial, and administrative departments.

 

Part III  Requirements and Remuneration Package

     Applicants should have a doctoral degree in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, neurobiology, computational science and other related fields, or will soon receive a doctoral degree, and have the ability to independently undertake research and team collaboration projects. Incoming postdoctoral fellows will assist co-supervisors in undertaking the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Foundation, and the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Major Project, and publish papers in SCI, SSCI, and Chinses Psychological Bulletin, and also participant in social service projects.

      Postdoctoral fellows (full-time on-site postdoctoral fellows) are well paid for 2 years: 120,000 yuan per person per year, of which 104,000 are used to pay postdoctoral salaries, scientific research project funding is 13,600 yuan, and management fees are 2,400 yuan. Outstanding post-doctoral researchers can give priority to solving the housing problem. During the postdoctoral period (not more than 3 years), if the children are post-doctoral personnel with non-entry residence registration, they can go through the relevant formalities for the local entrance (examination) for their children. Other relevant treatments stipulated by relevant national and school policies will also apply.
